Overview

The Paddle Pioneers is a group for paddlers just launching their paddlesport journey. It’s a group for young people who are excited to get into a new sport, develop new skills and explore some new environments.

The Objectives

Each day is tailored to the individuals in the group and paddling venues are chosen to suit. Typical objectives for the Paddle Pioneers could include:

  • Learning to enter and exit a range of paddlecraft safely (including using a spraydeck)
  • Develop a range of strokes to control the craft
  • Experiencing a range of paddling environments

Itinerary

We structure the week to ensure that all paddlers can get the most out of it. With one coach to six paddlers, time is spent getting to know each paddler individually. The week will include a mixture of different environments and craft including possible visits to lakes, easy moving water and the sea. Days will be spent with a mixture of static coaching and journeys to put these skills into practice.

Experience Required

This course is for young people who are either new to paddlesport or not paddling very often. Pioneers should be water confident, be comfortable swimming 50m in basic clothing and have an appropriate level of fitness for 5 active days before attending the course.

A thrilling 5-day kayaking adventure with our expert instructors, perfect for 12-17 year olds, where you’ll master the basics of kayaking on rivers, lakes and the sea with plenty of coaching and endless fun!
