British Cycling Fundamentals of Mountain Bike Leadership

The Fundamentals of mountain bike leadership is the newest of British Cycling's leadership awards and is the entry level into the mountain bike leadership scheme. British Cycling, Scottish Cycling and experts in the outdoor industry, have developed a course that combines online learning with face-to-face training and assessment to give you all the skills you need to lead mountain bike rides. Though you might already be a regular on group or club rides off-road (and therefore wondering where this award fits in), there are a few important elements to the qualification that will both empower and protect you for future activity: Learn leadership principles and skills from the most experienced mountain bike tutors in the country. Get the most out of your route planning with a dedicated module. Keep rolling with the knowledge to fix simple trailside repairs. Be prepared with plans to manage accidents and emergencies - plus you'll undergo first aid training in order to qualify. Get protected with leader insurance. The course is ideal for anyone who wants to lead groups using mixed road and off-road environments. This might include rides that are already taking place but require development and insurance, or perhaps you are looking to organise activity for your school, college, activity centre - or simply a group of friends. You'll be assessed on the skills you developed on your Level 2 training to show that you're an effective mountain bike leader, so you'll need to demonstrate navigation and route finding skills and incident management techniques, amongst others.We’re surrounded by some of the finest mountain biking routes in Europe, with world class single track routes, including the Gwydyr Forest trails and the Penmachno Trail right outside our back door. British Cycling Mountain Bike Leadership Level 3 Assessment

You'll take this practical assessment over two days. The first day looks at personal riding standards, which will include an all-day mountain bike journey during which you'll be able to demonstrate your MTB techniques, navigation and trail side repairs. On the second day you'll lead some clients in the Level 3 MTB Leadership terrain, where we'll be assessing your leadership skills, group control and organisational skills, self-sufficiency.We’re surrounded by some of the finest mountain biking routes in Europe, with world class single track routes, including the Gwydyr Forest trails and the Penmachno Trail right outside our back door. Downhill Mountain Bike Skills

Spend 2 days enjoying the best bits of mountain biking - the downhills! Not for armour wearing full-face-helmet riders, this weekend is more suited to you if you just want to develop your downhill technique and confidence to improve your cross country riding. You'll enjoy some great technique coaching from our mountain bike coaches and get lots and lots of downhill practice. We'll even provide a vehicle to get you up to the top of the hills, minimising the uphill pedalling. It's the kind of weekend that makes you remember what it was like to be a kid. You have the EMTB now get the skills to go with it. Haven’t decided yet, try before you buy. We have a purpose made bike centre with workshop and a skills area on site at Plas y Brenin. E-Bike Snowdonia

Experience two days of riding ebikes on some of the classic routes that North Wales has to offer. On our door step we have some stunning routes in the Gwydir forest, routes through the mountains and coastal routes to explore. We have the Gwydir trails (Marin Trail), Penmachno Trails and Coed y Brenin trail centres near by as well as many natural routes on our door step, including Snowdon, one of the most iconic MTB routes in the country. This is a two day course aimed at riders that want to build on their skills to improve on their style and flow on the trail. Our friendly, highly qualified Instructors will help you to develop good technical riding habits right from the start, which will make all the difference in the long term.

 You'll spend the two days making use of our purpose-built skills course and some of the local mountain bike trails, which include some of the finest mountain biking routes in Britain, with world class single track routes. The Gwydyr Forest trails and the Penmachno trails are right outside our back door. Other classic trails at Coed y Brenin and Coed Llandegla are only a short drive from our centre, as well as some classic natural routes.

Introduction To Mountain Biking Summer Camp

This five day course is for young people aged 12-17 years old who are new or novice mountain bikers. During this week you'll cover all the areas you need to develop your mountain biking skills both on and off the bike. Our friendly, enthusiastic and highly qualified instructors will help you get to grips with the key skills involved in technical riding including; step downs, drop offs, manual front wheel lifts, bunny hops, technical climbing and descending.

We'll also teach you how to maintain your bike; setting up gears, changing cables, problems with steering, and brake repair and maintenance (rim, mechanical disc and hydraulic disc brakes). There's plenty of chance to practice all these skills as you'll be out on your bike all day, covering about 20km every day on the fantastic trails of Snowdonia. This is a fantastic, active get away for young people who are looking to take their biking skills and possibly discover a new lifelong passion.

Mountain Bike Improver Summer Camp

You're aged 12-17 years, and you're already a committed mountain biker who wants to improve on the skills you've already developed. You'll be riding some of the UK's best trails and bike parks while you learn from our friendly, enthusiastic and experienced instructors. You'll cover a huge range of skills over this five day course, including; Drop offs, Bunny hops, Riding berms, Manual front wheel lifts, Technical climbing and descending - and loads more. You'll get plenty of chance to put all these skills into practice on mountain bike journeys, at local trail centres and on our mountain bike skills course.

Performance Mountain Bike Summer Camp

Are you a young mountain biker aged 14-17 years who wants to take their riding to the next level. This course is aimed at the rider that is riding red graded trails with ease and wants to learn more advanced skills. We will teach you the skills necessary to carry more flow on the trail, be smoother and faster. Whether mountain bike racing is your focus or you just enjoy pushing your limits, this course is for you. We are well placed in the Snowdonia National Park to access the local trail centres, natural steeper trails, wild mountain routes, not to mention purpose built skills training areas to hone your skills. We will do a day of uplift, driving you to the top so that you can focus on the downhill skills. Our experienced coaches will look forward to helping you achieve your goals.
