Overview

The Wave Chasers is a group for keen paddlers looking to paddle in a range of environments. It’s a group for young people who are excited to develop their existing skills and learn some new ones who don’t want to be tied to a single craft!

The Objectives

Each day is tailored to the individuals in the group and paddling venues are chosen to suit. Typical objectives for the Wave Chasers could include:

  • Learning to control a range of craft
  • Start to read the water in a range of environments
  • Introduce water safety and rescue principals

Itinerary

We structure the week to ensure that all paddlers can get the most out of it. With one coach to six paddlers, time is spent getting to know each paddler individually. The week aims to include a variety of sections of river, sea and local estuaries. Days will be spent with a mixture of static coaching and journeys to put skills learnt into practice.

Experience Required

This course is for young people with some paddlesport experience. The Wave Chasers should be water confident, be comfortable swimming 50m in basic clothing, be able to fit and escape a kayak while using a spraydeck and be able to control their craft consistently in sheltered water.

Small groups ensure individual attention and a supportive environment.
