Itinerary

* Please note: Itinerary is subject to weather and availability.

Day 1 – Refining your lead climbing skills
We'll begin by discussing your previous climbing experience and aspirations for the weekend. Heading to a suitable crag, we'll review the foundations of traditional lead climbing, including equipment selection, protection placement, belaying and rope management.
We'll also look at route selection, reading the rock and developing efficient climbing movement.

Day 2 – Developing confidence and judgement
Today's focus is on the decisions involved in becoming a more confident and capable leader. We'll explore how to select suitable routes, assess gear, look at leading on different rock types and terrain. We might look at rope management, belay options, or techniques for longer or more complex routes.

Day 3 – Putting your skills into practice
Our final day provides the opportunity to bring together the skills developed throughout the weekend. Depending on your experience and the conditions, we may explore more sustained climbing or introduce multipitch climbing where appropriate.
Your instructor will provide coaching and feedback while encouraging you to develop greater independence.

We'll finish with a review of your progress and suggestions for continuing your development as an outdoor lead climber.

This itinerary is indicative. Climbing venues, routes and activities will be selected to suit the group's experience, abilities and prevailing weather and rock conditions. Opportunities to lead independently or attempt particular grades cannot be guaranteed.
