Overview

The Current Crew is a group for keen paddlers looking to paddle in white water. It’s a group for young people who are excited to develop their existing skills and learn some new ones!

The Objectives

Each day is tailored to the individuals in the group and paddling venues are chosen to suit. Typical objectives for the Current Crew could include:

  • Learning to enter and exit the flow
  • Understand a range of river features and how they will affect the craft
  • Introduce foundation white water safety principals

Itinerary

We structure the week to ensure that all paddlers can get the most out of it. With one coach to six paddlers, time is spent getting to know each paddler individually. The week aims to include a variety of sections of river and our heated rolling pool if appropriate. Days will be spent with a mixture of static coaching and journeys to put skills learnt into practice.

Experience Required

This course is for young people with some paddlesport experience. The Current Crew should be water confident, be comfortable swimming 50m in basic clothing, be able to fit and escape a kayak while using a spraydeck and be able to control their craft consistently in sheltered water.
