You'll leave the course inspired and motivated to progress on to your Mountaineering And Climbing Instructor Assessment. You'll have a clear understanding of your ability in relation to the standard of the award, and the areas you need to develop before your assessment.

What to Expect
We'll tailor the course content carefully to meet your needs and aims, but topics typically covered include; personal climbing, teaching climbing, short roping and improvised rescue.
Experience Required
You must have attended a Mountaineering and Climbing Instructor Training and be actively progressing towards assessment.
Personal mountain clothing | Waterproof jacket and trousers | Warm hat, gloves | Neck gaiter/buff | Sunhat | Mountain boots | Day rucksack and rucksack liner (e.g. rubble bag or dry bag) | Drink bottle/Flask | Lunch bag/box | Personal first aid kit | Gaiters (optional) | Headtorch | High factor sunscreen | Midge repellent | Notebook and pen OS Explorer 17 1:25,000 Snowdon & Conwy Valley (ideally laminated if not bring a map case) (Can be purchased from our shop) OS Landranger 115 1:50,000 Snowdon (ideally laminated if not bring a map case) (Can be purchased from our shop) | Compass (Silva Expedition 4 recommended) | Fine permanent pen (for writing on laminated maps) | Rock shoes | Harness | Helmet | Climbing rack | Footwear for sea level traversing day could get wet, old trainers or approach shoes would work well | Plas y Brenin will provide all ropes for use during the course. If you plan to climbing in your free time you will need your own ropes.
How should I prepare?
You should have recent personal climbing experience up to VS4c, personal mountaineering experience, and instructional experience, so you can use it to raise any questions you may have on a specific area or technique that you want to address.
