What to Expect

We'll use a range of local venues to cover the syllabus. The exact venues will be selected in response to water levels and prevailing weather conditions.

Experience Required

Confident swimmer, with experience of swiftwater-based activities (e.g. rafting, canoeing, kayaking etc.| Minimum age: 18

Footwear to cope with bank and boat | Warm clothes for off the water | Warm hat, gloves, neck gaiter/buff, sun hat | Towel | Waterproof jacket and trousers | Drysuit (if you have one) | Buoyancy aid (with chest harness • if you have one) | Helmet (in good condition) | Personal boat/s (if possible) | Paddles (if possible) | Drinks bottle | Flask | Lunch bag/box | Personal first aid kit | High factor sunscreen | Midge repellent | Large kit bag (for wet paddling kit) | Notebook and pen, logbook/paperwork | Dry bag | Boat | Spraydeck (if kayaking) | Safety and rescue kit (you would normally carry)
How should I prepare?
You should be a competent grade II paddler and confident swimming in moving water.
