The Objectives

Our main goal is to provide you with a high-quality leadership training experience. This training aims to bring you closer to readiness for your Sea Kayak Leader assessment through practical application of leadership models, safety protocols, and personal skill refinement. We focus on building your confidence to lead others safely and effectively on coastal journeys.

Itinerary

Over these two days, you will engage in a series of coastal journeys along the picturesque North Wales coastline. Day 1: Following a group briefing, we head straight to the coast to focus on personal paddling skills and the foundations of effective leadership in moderate water. Day 2: We continue our coastal exploration, shifting focus toward incident management, rescue techniques, and honing your ability to make dynamic decisions as a leader. Please note: The itinerary is subject to weather conditions and group needs.

Experience Required

You should be an active paddler with experience in moderate sea conditions. You should be fit enough for two full days of demanding activity on the water. Ensure you are familiar with the British Canoeing Sea Kayak Leader syllabus. Being current with your personal skills (such as efficient forward paddling and basic rescues) will allow you to focus more effectively on the leadership aspects of the course.
