This course is here to provide paddlers with the skills and understanding of how to stay safe when paddling in sheltered or moderate inland open water, whether you’re paddling in kayaks, canoes, sit on tops or stand-up paddleboards.

The Objectives

The primary objective of this training is to provide you with the knowledge of how to stay safe on Inland open water, preventing situations from happening but having simple solutions to dealing with mishaps should they happen.

This is a practical course full of solutions to dealing with issues that may arise when paddling on inland open water in winds up to force 4. By the end of this training, you’ll be more confident in planning trips, understanding the equipment required to keep you safe, how to assist others and techniques for rescuing yourself and others. This training course will challenge and develop your skills in moderate inland open water with guidance from our experts. To make the most of this experience, ensure that you are physically fit for a practical day in windy conditions. Being a competent paddler in force 3 is essential before attending this training, as it will help you build on your existing skills and get the most value from the course. Expect a hands-on, immersive experience that will improve your confidence paddling in moderate open water environments.

Experience Required

You’ll need to be a competent paddler in force 3 conditions to gain the most from this course. Make sure that you’re fit enough for a practical day on open water in windy conditions.
