This training will help to develop your technical knowledge and will aid you in applying the content covered in the Core Coach award to coaching paddlers in an advanced white water environment focusing on the How, What and Where of coaching.
You’ll leave with an action plan to advance your coaching skills and help you to prepare for the advanced white water canoe coach assessment.

The Objectives

To develop your technical knowledge.
To transfer the content learnt on the British Canoeing Core Coach Training into an advanced white water environment.
To prepare you for your British Canoeing Advanced White Water Canoe Coach Assessment.

Itinerary

The training unfolds over two days, with day one dedicated to applying Coach Core behaviours in advanced white water settings. On day two, you’ll put these principles into practice during a coaching session, receiving peer feedback, observation, and trainer guidance. The course culminates with an action planning session to prepare you for future assessments and continued development.

Experience Required

Prior to attending the course, you must have completed a number of prerequisites:

Full Home Nation Association Membership
Core Coach Training
Advanced White Water Canoe Leader Award

Your personal paddling skills should be well developed so that the full focus of the course is on coaching skills. We also recommend that you’re able to demonstrate the skills you’ve developed from the Advanced White Water Canoe Leader award. You’ll also need good knowledge of white water canoeing, as this provides the content of what you’ll be coaching. To make the most of this training ensure you have a high level of competency in your craft in a grade 3 environment. Look back over the content covered in your core coach training.
