Autumn is a wonderful time to explore the mountains of Eryri. The changing colours, crisp mountain air and quieter paths create a beautiful backdrop for a day out in the hills.

This guided walk takes you into the Moel Hebog and Nantlle Valley mountain range, where you'll discover some of the landscapes and stories that make this part of Eryri so special.

The day is perfect for anyone looking to experience the Welsh mountains with the reassurance and knowledge of an experienced local guide. Along the way, you'll have plenty of opportunities to stop, take in the views and learn more about the area's rich natural and cultural heritage.

The Objectives

By the end of the day, participants will:

Itinerary

9:00am – Meet your guide at Plas y Brenin

Meet your expert mountain guide, get to know the group and have a quick briefing before heading out into Eryri.

Morning – Explore Moel Hebog & the Nantlle Valley

Enjoy a full day guided walk through the stunning autumn landscapes of the Moel Hebog and Nantlle Valley range. Your guide will share stories of the area's fascinating history, landscape and heritage along the way.

Lunch – Take in the views

Stop for a picnic lunch in the mountains and enjoy a well-earned rest. With the landscape around you, it's the perfect opportunity to take in the scenery, recharge and enjoy the views before continuing your walk. Residential bookings have their Packed lunches included, for Non-residential bookings, please bring your own lunch and snacks.

Afternoon – Continue the mountain adventure

We’ll spend around 4–5 hours walking, with the exact route adapted to the weather and conditions on the day. There will be plenty of opportunities to pause, enjoy the views and take in the autumn colours.

By 5:00pm – Back at Plas y Brenin

Return to Plas y Brenin for a well-earned tea and cake, followed by a relaxed debrief with your guide. Share your highlights from the day before heading home.

This walk is suitable for anyone with a reasonable level of fitness and some previous experience of walking in an upland environment. You should be comfortable |

Walking on both paths and rougher, off-path terrain

Being outdoors for a full day in changeable mountain weather | You don't need to be an experienced mountaineer – just someone who enjoys walking and would like to discover more of the beautiful Eryri landscape.
