Overview

Two days will be spent bringing to life all the information from the core coach training in the advanced open water environment in canoes. This will take place in some of the finest open water stretches in North Wales.

The Objectives

You'll have gained invaluable guidance to help you achieve the Open Water Canoe Coach Award (Advanced Water) Qualification, and have your own action plan to help your development continue. If you're not working towards the qualification, you'll go away with plenty of practical guidance to support your ongoing learning and development.

What to Expect

You'll spend day one applying your Core Coach Training on advanced open water in both solo and tandem boats. We'll cover paddling into, across, and down winds of over force 4 in solo and tandem boats. On day two, we'll evaluate your coaching and use the feedback to help you develop an action plan for assessment and/or further improvements to your coaching.

Experience Required

Prior to your Coach Award Assessment you must have completed a number of prerequisites; | | Full Home Nation Association Membership | Core Coach Training| Advanced Canoe Leader Award | Your personal paddling skills should be well developed so that the full focus of the course is on coaching skills. | We recommend that you're able to demonstrate the skills of the skills you've developed from the Advanced Canoe Leader award. | You'll also need good knowledge of the discipline Advanced Open Water canoeing, as this provides the content of what you'll be coaching.

What do I need to bring?
All you really need to bring is sufficient base clothing to wear, and some suitable footwear. Our stores have a wide range of Peak UK soft wear as well as paddles and poles. We have an extensive selection of kayaks from a range of manufacturers. This is an ideal opportunity to try something new if you'd like to. If you prefer the familiar, feel free to bring your own kit.
How should I prepare?
You need to have canoed fairly recently, including in winds up to force 4/5 to get the most from five days of paddling.
