If you’re looking for guidance in how to introduce learners to the exciting world of paddling boarding then this two days is for you. We cover all the elements of the BCAB (British Canoeing Awarding Body) Stand Up Paddle Board instructor course in detail. We’ll train and assess the required personal paddling skills, instructing skills and rescue skills to the standards set by the governing body.

WHAT WILL I LEARN ON THE COURSE? How to effectively prepare a group for an activity (e.g. kitting up and getting afloat); Together you will play with a range of activities to engage the group (e.g. games, tasks and journeys); You will explore a range of motivating activities and games that support learning; The tutors will support you to plan ways of using mini journeys to inspire adventure and exploration; You will develop ideas that allow you to help participants learn basic skills; Our tutors will share top tips and quick fixes for common challenges to accelerate learning; You will investigate how to select suitable equipment for participants; You will explore methods of maintaining participants’ safety and develop your understanding of deployment matters.

What do I need to bring?
All you really need to bring is sufficient base clothing to wear, and some suitable footwear. Our stores have a wide range of Peak UK soft wear as well as paddles and poles. We have an extensive selection of different styles of open canoes from a range of manufacturers. This is an ideal opportunity to try something new if you'd like to. If you prefer the familiar, feel free to bring along your own kit.
How should I prepare?
Develop the required personal skills and rescue skills through in-house or independent training, practice and coaching. British Canoeing Awarding Body Instructor eLearning is available to support your development (optional).
