Overview

This five-day training course covers all the elements of the 'Sea Kayak Leader Training' and 'Coastal Navigation and Tide Planning' programmes. This course aims to give you a comprehensive leadership training package and action plan to help you move you towards being a sea kayak leader.

The Objectives

You'll be one step closer to being ready for your sea kayak assessment and have a personalised action plan to put into practice ahead of your assessment. You'll have completed the Coastal Navigation Module.

What to Expect

You'll be in the classroom on day one covering the Coastal Navigation and Tidal Planning module. During the remaining four days, you'll complete a series of journeys along the north Wales Coastline practising leadership, personal skills, safety and rescue. You'll also put the Coastal Navigation course into practice as you'll be involved planning of each day's journey.

Experience Required

You should have some experience of paddling in moderate sea conditions.

We want to help you focus on achieving your goals, so comfortable accommodation (with WIFI included) and good food are part of the deal - you don't need to think about sorting this out for yourself. Support is on hand from our friendly, and exceptionally well qualified, staff to help develop your understanding and personal skills. They also help you to formulate an appropriate action plan for your further development. What's more, you'll have access to our extensive range of paddling equipment and clothing to use whilst honing your chosen skills. You just bring yourself, your 'can do' attitude, and determination to achieve excellence.

What do I need to bring?

All you really need to bring is sufficient base clothing to wear under a wetsuit and some suitable footwear. Our stores have a range of Peak UK soft wear as well as paddles, tow-lines etc. We have an extensive selection of different styles of sea kayaks from the P&H and Venture range. This is an ideal opportunity to try something new if you'd like to. If you prefer the familiar, feel free to bring along your own kit. We have rescue dry suits available for these elements of the training but if you have your own we would advise you to bring it along.

How should I prepare?
You should be an active paddler and ensure you're fit enough for five days of activity.
