Overview

On this five-day enhanced course, you'll work with our highly qualified team to move your leadership skills to the standard set by British Canoeing. You'll paddle white water in spectacular Eryri (Snowdonia) whilst you hone the skills you need to lead a group of paddlers in appropriate locations, up to moderate white water conditions. We'll show you how to judge the conditions, and the standard of the group, then make appropriate decisions along with the need to modify plans as required. You'll also cover the WWSR course.

The Objectives

You'll be a more confident leader with enhanced personal paddling, rescue, safety, leadership and group skills. You'll be one step closer to being a White Water Kayak Leader and be equipped with suitable techniques and boat control in real situations.

What to Expect

You'll spend three days with our experts helping you to hone your skills on Grade 2/3 white-water. You'll cover the WWSR syllabus during the remaining two days.

Experience Required

You should be an experienced paddler with some experience of paddling on white water with a minimum personal skill level of The British Canoeing 3* White Water kayak award.

We want to help you focus on achieving your goals, so comfortable accommodation (with WIFI included) and good food are part of the deal - you don't need to think about sorting this out for yourself. Support is on hand from our friendly, and exceptionally well qualified, staff to help develop your understanding and personal skills. They also help you to formulate an appropriate action plan for your further development. What's more, you'll have access to our extensive range of paddling equipment and clothing to use whilst honing your chosen skills. You just bring yourself, your 'can do' attitude, and determination to achieve excellence.

What do I need to bring?

All you really need to bring is sufficient base clothing to wear under a wetsuit and some suitable footwear. Our stores have a range of Peak UK soft wear as well as paddles and poles. We have an extensive selection of different styles of canoes and kayaks from a range of manufacturers. This is an ideal opportunity to try something new if you'd like to. If you prefer the familiar, feel free to bring along your own kit. We have rescue dry suits available for these elements of the training but if you have your own we would advise you to bring it along.

How should I prepare?
You'll need to be on top of your game for this training course. Make sure that you're fit enough for five challenging days on white water. You should also have kayaked regularly before attending.
