Overview

The mountains, hills and rugged terrain of North Wales provide a stunning backdrop to the British Cycling Level 2 MTB Leadership Award. You'll hone your leadership skills on some of Snowdonia's most challenging mountain bike venues. We'll give you an outline of the procedures and criteria for your assessment so you'll know what to expect. Our friendly, highly qualified instructors will help you to achieve the level where you can safely guide riders in mountainous terrain and provide them with a great day out.We’re surrounded by some of the finest mountain biking routes in Europe, with world class single track routes, including the Gwydyr Forest trails and the Penmachno Trail right outside our back door. Other classic trails at Coed y Brenin and Coed Llandegla are only a short drive from our centre. Plus, there’s the iconic ride of Snowdon. But you'll also find purpose-built skills and coaching circuit and bike workshop facility with a wide range of tools and resources, plus maps to help you get the most from the area.

The Objectives

You'll develop all the skills and knowledge you need to start your journey to being a qualified MTB leader.

Itinerary

Day 1


You'll cover trailside repairs, group leadership, and have an introduction to MTB navigation

Day 2


You'll spend day on a ride to put your leadership knowledge into practice, using the navigation and route finding skills you learned on day one, and practising incident management techniques.

Experience Required

You should be a competent MTB rider with good level of fitness. Be a member of British Cycling if you are not already a member (Ride membership minimum) https://membership.britishcycling.org.uk/

We want to help you focus on achieving your goals. So if you're staying with us, comfortable accommodation (with WIFI included) and home-cooked meals are part of the deal, you don't need to think about sorting this out for yourself. Support is on hand from our friendly, and exceptionally well qualified staff, to help develop your understanding and personal skills. They also help you to formulate an appropriate action plan for your further development. You'll also be able to use any bike tools and resources you want.
