Overview

Would you like to consolidate and expand upon your scrambling skills by exploring more of what Eryri has to offer? If you’ve tried scrambling but don’t yet feel confident enough to take on longer or more technical scrambling routes independently, then this is the course for you.

This course would be a perfect stepping stone for scramblers who have done some grade 1 scrambles or attended our introductory course, but don’t yet feel ready for our advanced scrambling course. Or you would simply like to cover more ground with the support of an expert guide.

The Objectives

This course looks to continue your development from our introductory courses.

You’ll continue to develop your personal movement skills on rock and building up further your confidence on exposed scrambling terrain.

The small ratios allow us to personalise the course to support you gaining more scrambling experience on your journey to independence.

Areas such as route choice considering the prevailing weather, using scrambling guidebooks and then finding and following the scramble.

You’ll spend time in the mountains on grade two scrambles.

You’ll consolidate your judgement and decision making to traverse scrambling terrain safely deploying a rope as needed.|

Spend 3 days with one of our expert guides on great scrambles, learning and having an amazing time.

With such small ratios the course will be tailored to those attending.

But that said we will support you to make wise choices about exciting scrambling routes, move efficiently and safely over steeper terrain, interpret scrambling guidebooks and navigate on scrambles safely.

We will look at how you can use a rope to safeguard more exposed sections within a scramble.

Experience Required

Previous experience of grade 1 scrambling is essential, as is a good level of fitness and head for heights. Don’t worry if you’ve not used ropes before, we’ll explain all that as we go.
