Overview

If you are a hillwalker who enjoys being in the mountains but wants to reach some of the trickier parts or, if you are a climber and you want to see how we how to manage rope systems on scrambling terrain this is the course for you.You should have experience of scrambles or rock climbs. You will learn though a guided experience. We’ll undertake some of the higher grade scrambles in the UK’s best scrambling location. Our highly experienced and qualified instructors will look after you well and teach you the skills you need.

The Objectives

This course will help you with route selection, movement skills, route finding and look at the equipment required for scrambling. With your Instructor in the lead you’ll safely be able to see what is required to manage safety on this tricky terrain. Our 1:2 ratio means this course will be tailored to your needs

What to Expect

Both days of this course will be spent ‘on the hill’ where we will travel some of the iconic scrambles of northern Snowdonia. You will be well looked after by our experienced and qualified Instructors who will pass on just the right amount of information to help you learn new skills and reach new places. We'll tailor the course to best suit your needs, whether that's more instruction or just getting out there for more experience under our guidance.

Experience Required

You'll need a good level of hillwalking fitness, a head for heights and a thirst for adventure.

We want to help you focus on achieving your goals so if you're staying with us, comfortable accommodation (with WIFI included) and good food are part of the deal, you don't need to think about sorting this out for yourself. Support is on hand from our friendly, and exceptionally well qualified staff, to help develop your understanding and personal skills. They also help you to formulate an appropriate action plan for your further development.

What do I need to bring?
  • Walking socks
  • Wicking base layer
  • Walking trousers – usually these will be a modern ‘technical’ quick drying fabric
  • Fleece/warm jacket or pullover
  • Woolly hat
  • Gloves – need to be warm
  • Personal First aid kit
  • Spare clothing – e.g. extra fleece, belay jacket, spare gloves, spare hat
  • Drinks bottle and/or flask. Sandwich box
  • Seasonally think about - Sun cream/ sun glasses/ insect repellent/ spare food/sun hat

And, if you have your own please bring the following but, we can supply these for your course

  • Mountain Boots
  • Hard Shell waterproofs
  • Rucksack- ideally 35 litres min
  • Helmet
  • Harness
How should I prepare?
You need to be either a climber wanting to learn how to operate on scrambling terrain or a hillwalker who wants to experience scrambling terrain.
