You'll gain an understanding of what's required to lead rock climbs, and hone your leading skills.

What to Expect

You'll spend every day out climbing in the spectacular Snowdonia mountains. We feel it's very important for you to progress at your own pace. Therefore we carefully select climbs that suit your aspirations and ability. Each morning the course staff will decide on a venue which is best suited to the weather conditions and the group. Our programme's flexible, but we intend to visit single pitch crags on the first two days. For the final three, we split into smaller groups and tackle some of the larger multi pitch crags. Over the week we intend to look at the following areas;

Single and multi pitch climbing, Modern ropework, and double rope technique, Dynamics of belaying and fall factors, Coaching of lead climbing, Coaching of technique (movement) ,Abseiling (with self protection), Improvised crag rescue and problem solving, Mental Preparation, Use of walls and how to train for climbing, Judgement, route choice and route finding

Experience Required

You should have already mastered the basics. If you are leading indoors or on sport climbs this is a great start, if not, then you should've spent a bit of time following friends up trad climbs.

How should I prepare?
If you've not been out climbing recently, refresh yourself with basic ropework and get to the local crag or wall for a stretch.
