Overview

Rolling a sea kayak demands technique and finesse in equal measure but once you've nailed it, your journeys on the sea will be far more rewarding. Hone your skills in our indoor heated rolling pool and private lake. During the two days, we'll cover all the rolling techniques to find one that works for you to help you on your path to rolling.

You'll progress from the absolute basics to rolling a sea kayak confidently.

What to Expect

You'll start off in our heated pool using smaller kayaks as we introduce the underpinning skills of an effective kayak roll. We'll then get you doing it in sea kayaks. Once you've mastered this in the pool, you'll move onto our pond and lake to get used to the colder outdoor environment.

Experience Required

You should be confident to capsize wearing a spraydeck.

We want to help you focus on achieving your goals, so comfortable accommodation (with WIFI included) and good food are part of the deal - you don't need to think about sorting this out for yourself. Support is on hand from our friendly, and exceptionally well qualified, staff to help develop your understanding and personal skills. They also help you to formulate an appropriate action plan for your further development. What's more, you'll have access to our extensive range of paddling equipment and clothing to use whilst honing your chosen skills. You just bring yourself, your 'can do' attitude, and determination to achieve excellence.

What do I need to bring?
Our pool is equipped with kayaks of various sizes and shapes. You may wish to bring your own wetsuit, spraydeck, paddle etc, but we provide you with all of these. You'll find it useful to bring along a nose clip to ease the sinuses from continuous immersion.
How should I prepare?
Rolling can be tiring, so being fit will help you get the most from the course. Flexibility is another key factor in success so increasing your flexibility and mobility well ahead of the course will help to ensure success.
