Overview

Anyone who’s keen to learn to sport climb and improve their climbing. We’ll typically climb at crags with a broad range of grades, with most people climbing somewhere between French 4 and 6b over the weekend. You should finish the course feeling confident to visit a sport crag and know how to use it safely and efficiently, and never leave a quickdraw behind!

Itinerary

Saturday Informal welcome chat with our staff and your course members; Discuss where’s best for the day’s weather and team; Movement coaching and route reading top tips; Efficient clipping and finding rests; Lead some sport routes (as appropriate) Threading different lower offs safely; Return to PYB for tea and cake! Sunday Visit a different crag; Develop and consolidate the previous day’s learning; Use a clipstick to get to the top of a climb Tips on ‘redpointing’ (working, or practicing a climb before leading it) Use of assisted braking devices (e.g. Gri Gri or Clickup) How to give a ‘soft’ catch Climb fun routes with coaching along the way Return to PYB for more tea and cake, and a fond farewell.


Experience Required

You need to be a confident leader already, whether that’s indoors or using traditional protection, and able to belay a leader.
