Overview

Mountaineering and Climbing Instructors are increasingly called upon to work in situations requiring skills and knowledge not usually covered within the core syllabus. This two day course will provide essential CPD for Mountaineering and Climbing Instructors looking to gain extra skills and certification to enhance your ability to work safely on film sets, industrial structures, using twin rope systems associated with industrial techniques or remote location. The sessions are designed to further your knowledge and understanding of rigging, forces & angles and safe working practices. This course provides accredited CPD for AMI members and includes certification for Rescue 3 Safe Working at Height.

The Objectives

You will learn skills to cover work outside the normal Mountaineering and Climbing Instructor role. This event will follow the Rescue 3 safe working at height syllabus, including the use of equipment and rigging in diverse environments and situations and skills for safeguarding yourself and other individuals, such as camera operators and sound technicians.

Itinerary

Day 1 - Are you really on belay? - Angles. Compression and belay building - Ground anchors, stakes, DMM Talon, Trees - PPE Inspection, Introduction to Working at Height equipment and terminology and HSE guidelines - Use of twin line equipment Day 2 - Working at Height equipment, Moving on ropes - Rescue plans - Tensioning ropes, use of high directional anchors End of Day: Review, summary and paperwork for Rescue 3 certification.
