The Objectives

On all courses, each day is tailored to the individuals in the group and climbing venues are chosen to suit the weather and conditions.

Typical objectives for the Rock Cats could include:

  • Bouldering and top roping
  • Adventurous multi pitch mountain and sea cliff climbs
  • Leading sport and trad climbs

Itinerary

* Please note: Itinerary is subject to weather and availability.

We structure the week carefully to help everyone get the most out of it.

Monday & Tuesday (1 instructors : 4 climbers)

We start the week as a larger group (i.e. 2 instructors with 8 climbers). The first two days typically are spent bouldering, single-pitch sport climbing and top roping at trad climbing crags. You’ll refresh core safety skills and develop movement skills on a variety of rock types, so you’re moving confidently and working well together before we visit more adventurous venues.

Wednesday to Friday (1 instructor : 2 climbers)

Two more instructors join our group, giving each climber more input from their instructor and the chance to explore more adventurous venues. Depending on conditions and the group’s experience, we could climb on sea cliffs and mountain crags and work on sport and trad lead climbing.

Experience Required

This course is designed for motivated, experienced climbers who are climbing frequently. People in this group will know what level they climb in at least one discipline (ie sport grade) and will usually be lead climbing sport routes too. However, there is no requirement to have done the NICAS scheme or have climbed outside before. You can use one or more of these levels to check that this is the right group for you:
  • Sport Grade: 7a and upwards
  • Boulder Grade: V5 / Font 6c and upwards
  • Trad Grade: HVS and upwards
  • Frequency: Climbs several times a week
  • NICAS Level: 4–5
If you’re still unsure about which group is the best one for you, don’t hesitate to get in touch with us for more information.

This course is designed for established young climbers (aged 12-17 years) who aim to climb harder, longer, and safer. We'll focus on improving your climbing skills, technique, and safety with highly qualified instructors.
