Overview

Exercise your legs and your vocal cords! The Big Acoustic Walk returns to Plas y Brenin for 2019! Enjoy a guided introduction to a range of walks in Snowdonia on a popular weekend that celebrates Music and Mountains. Your leader will help you interpret the landscape and you will learn about hillwalking as you go and In the evening, the centre will be flooded with music and you can join in too.

Whether you're a musician, vocalist or just an enthusiastic listener, this weekend is a great opportunity to share your love of walking and music with other outdoor enthusiasts and musicians.

After an active day and a hearty evening meal there'll be an 'Open Mic' Evening where (if you choose to) you can take the stage and play a number or two for your fellow walkers. Of course, if you're not a performer at heart, you can simply sit back and enjoy the show or retire to a corner of the bar to string a spontaneous tune together with fellow musicians.

The Objectives

- You'll have an enjoyable walking holiday and learn more about Snowdonia's countryside on guided walks.
- You’ll have the opportunity to play for a crowd or simply sit back and relax with fantastic live music.
- Hearty food and local beer from The Purple Moose Brewery will be on hand in the evenings, when the atmosphere of Plas y Brenin will really come alive on a popular weekend.

What to Expect

You'll be able to choose from a range of walks, long and short, coast and mountain.

Experience Required

You don't need any specific experience, and you don’t need to be a musician! If you’re looking for a fantastic, lively weekend walking holiday this is for you.

We want to help you focus on achieving your goals so if you're staying with us, comfortable accommodation (with WIFI included) and good food are part of the deal, you don't need to think about sorting this out for yourself. Support is on hand from our friendly, and exceptionally well qualified staff, to help develop your understanding and personal skills. They also help you to formulate an appropriate action plan for your further development.

What do I need to bring?

You will need to bring

· Walking socks

· Wicking base layer

· Walking trousers – usually these will be a modern ‘technical’ quick drying fabric

· Fleece jacket or pullover

· Woolly hat and Gloves – need to be warm

· Spare clothing – e.g. extra fleece, spare gloves, spare hat,

· Drinks bottle and/or flask, sandwich box

· Sun cream, sun glasses, insect repellent and a sun hat (you may not use all of these!)

You should also bring them if you have them but, you can borrow these from our stores

· Walking Boots

· Hard Shell Waterproofs

· Rucksack- ideally 35 litres min

You don't need to do any specific preparation, but a keenness to walk always helps.
