Get winter-ready and make sure your skills, kit and decision making are up to scratch before heading into the mountains this winter.
Winter in Eryri can be spectacular. Crisp mornings, clear mountain air, snowy summits and the crunch of ice underfoot can make for some of the most rewarding days in the mountains. But winter also brings shorter days, rapidly changing weather, poor visibility and more serious consequences when things don't go to plan.
Winter Ready is a practical, two-day skills refresher designed to help you prepare for the challenges of the Welsh winter.
Through a combination of classroom sessions and practical mountain-based training, you'll revisit the essential skills you need to plan and manage winter days safely and confidently. We'll look at everything from choosing the right clothing and equipment to navigating in poor visibility, interpreting weather and avalanche forecasts, choosing appropriate routes and dealing with emergencies.
Whether you're preparing for your first winter season or looking to refresh your skills after a summer spent in the mountains, this course will help you start the winter with greater confidence and a more considered approach to your mountain days.
